User KIU Cyber Security Center Activity Report Presentation and Fundamentals of Cyber Security Second Cohort Award Ceremony

Kutaisi International University (KIU) welcomed a visit from USAID Georgia Mission. Ms. Michelle Koscielski, USAID's Economic Growth Office Director and USAID representatives visited KIU and participated in a presentation of progress achieved by the KIU Cyber Security Center.

Professor Alexander Tevzadze, Rector of Kutaisi International University, greeted participants and spoke about the importance of USAID-KIU collaboration for workforce development.

Ramaz Bochorishvili, dean of KIU's mathematics and computer science program, and Nino Tvaltvadze, human capital development manager, also addressed the guests and delivered the presentation. Trainers and the KIU student who developed a cybersecurity website actively participated in the event.

At the end of the event, the second cohort of the Fundamentals of Cyber Security training course received graduation certificates.

Cyber Security Training Program at KIU is funded by the USAID Industry-led Skills Development Program, aimed at developing a highly skilled workforce in the field. The "Fundamentals of Cyber Security" course was conducted in two stages. In the initial stage, 59 participants completed the course successfully, followed by 41 participants in the second stage, each receiving certificates upon completion. Furthermore, KIU has formed an academic partnership with the US-based EC-Council, the world's largest cybersecurity technical certification body.

Kutaisi International University (KIU) opened its doors to the first cohort of students in 2020-2021 academic year for three English-language undergraduate programs (Management, Mathematics and Computer Science). Currently, approximately 1,200 students are studying at the university.

KIU collaborates with Technical University of Munich (TUM International GmbH and TUM), a leading European university. Funding for Kutaisi International University is provided by the 'Cartu' charity fund, with a total budget of up to 1 billion euros.
